Always something that makes you feel like a dummy! I've got a 2022 RG Limited, with WHIM installed and the headsets are the basic Harley ones that plug into the dash. I've waited as long as I could thinking I'd figure this out with the manual and what I could find online but still can't get them to work. The headsets won't play at all, like they aren't getting any power, the display shows that INT is initiated but when I press the button to talk I get a "microphone not connected". I can't get any sound through the helmet speakers. I'm sure its something simple I'm not doing, I hope, but I'm definitely Electronics Illiterate! I've checked the wiring and everything is plugged in so not sure what it is. I'm wondering if because of the WHIM do I have to use a Bluetooth set. When I plug my phone it it picks it right up and starts playing music and when someone calls the stereo picks that up but only through the stereo speakers the headsets don't play anything. Anyone got any ideals as to what I'm not doing???
The WHIM description on the web site says something about wired headsets not working after installation. Essentially, after installing WHIM, you can only do wireless (Bluetooth).

That would make since, I didn't see that bit of info. I went back on the HD Web sight and read the ,WHIM description, it states "upon installation of the WHIM, your motorcycles wired microphone functionality will no longer be available. However the wired audio will continue to function as before". To me that means the microphone won't work but should still be able to hear through the speakers in the helmet. Not sure how else to interpret that. Guess I'll go borrow a blue tooth set and see if they work if so I guess I'll be spending some more money!!!

The WHIM plugs into the port for the wired headsets. So, once the WHIM is connected, the wired headsets get nothing because it is not plugged in.
In my case, I have two sets of helmets - wired and also a Cardo. use the cardo on short trips - and can connect with others that are wireless. Use the wired on long trips - this way, I can use my CB.

Cycle7447, when you want to use the wired set how do you make it work, unplug the WHIM? i don't have a CB and don't plan to so that's a none issue for me, guess I just need to get me a wireless setup for the wife and I. Thanks

I believe you're going to need to get a set (or two) of wireless headset... or unplug the WHIM module and plug your wired headset harness back in. I am guessing the bike came from the factory with wired headset system, and the dealer or you upgraded the coms to the WHIM, but did not "toss in" a set of wireless headsets for it... but they left the factory wired headsets, that came with the bike, in the bike?

I could be wrong but I believe Cycle7447 does not the WHIM in play. He (like myself) is using the Cardo PackTalk units for wireless (mesh) communication, and the wired headset for CB comm...no WHIM.
As others have mentioned, once you have the WHIM installed, it renders wired headsets inoperable. I'm wondering what your motivation was for getting the WHIM installed if you don't have the wireless headsets? For most, it's to be able to go wireless. And remember...if you want all the full functionality of the WHIM/GTS, you will have to pony up and purchase the HD branded Sena comms. Non-HD Sena's will work, but you will loose stereo sound.
The plan is to eventually get bluetooth headsets, just thought the wired ones would work till I did, A friend of mine owns the dealership where I purchased the bike and he threw it all in with the bike, He sold me the bike at his cost and gave me a huge discount on any add ons I wanted, Just didn't do my homework before hand on the headsets like I should have. I spoke with him this morning and told him what I found out, and he's going to make it right.
