I installed the Gerbing panel mount on the mid frame air deflectors on my 2011 Ultra. Unfortunately. I didn't use any blue thread locker on the star nut, and it vibrated off the bike. I'd just like to purchase a new nut to replace the fastener that vibrated off, but I'm not sure of the size. I removed one of the other nuts that's on the panel connector and stopped at my local big box store to check out the size. The nut doesn't fit any of the "nut checkers". I also doesn't fit in the Nut & bolt checker that I have. I called Gerbing, but they didn't know. Yea, that's crazy!
Anyways, it's a long shot but does anyone know the size? My guess is it's a 5/16-32, but I have no way to check.
Might be worth a shot to have your better half call the Garbing sales and, in a pouty and convincing tone, ask for a spare nut. I did that with the folks I bought my detachable batwing fairing on the barrel lock and they sent the nut gratis.
Any old school electronics stores around your area like the old Radio Shack used-ta-was? That's where they'll be at.
This was actually a great idea! I looked up and found an old school electronics parts store called Greenbrook Electronics. Stopped by today and spoke with an older gentleman that works there. He was very helpful. He mentioned that there is no standard in regard to panel nuts. He had a box full of different nuts, but I couldn't tell if any of them would fit. I really need to bring in the male end of the connector. I mentioned to him that the connector was mounted on my motorcycle, and it was a little bit of a pain in the *** to remove it. He told me to just bring the motorcycle around and he'll let me try the various nuts he has to see if I can find one that fits. Works for me! Told him I'll be back on the next nice day. It was raining today and we're expecting a so called Nor' easter.

Cool! I'm sure he'll have one for you. Do you have room to stack two of them for a jamb nut type set up? Might be cleaner than Loctite.
