Weird Feeling
I dropped my 6 week old bike off at the dealer for the 1000 mile service this afternoon. I didn't want to leave it. And now, I feel a bit anxious knowing it's not in the garage. I had to take it in after work and I will have to wait until after work tomorrow to pick it up. If I could have taken it in the morning, I could have waited for it. I think maybe I have grown a bit attached to it.
Other than my dog at the vet over night, I do not get this feeling at all... If I didnt trust the facility to give me my bike back better than when it went in, it wouldnt be there. I have 3 bikes at the dealer in storage since December, I get them back in the next 2 weeks.
I'm not worried that they will not take care of the bike. But, this is a new bike and the first time I've ever had any dealer do service for me. So I don't really know them yet. Hopefully, I'll have a "Good Dealership Experience" post to make this evening.
Just called to the dealer to see if the bike is done yet. I had expected them to call me this morning, but nothing. They tell me it has not been started on yet even though I brought it to them yesterday and made the appointment with them last week. The weather is supposed to get nasty this evening/tonight so they better get it done soon or I won't be able to take it home.

I know what you mean. I went to the dealer yesterday to pick up a couple things and I asked the service dept. how much the 1,000 mile service would be, without the oil change. He said “why without the oil change?” I said “because I’ll change it at 500 or 750 myself.” He goes “Don’t do that! There’s break in oil in there and you want to run that for 1,000 miles!” That’s why I do my own service because I don’t trust many of these techs. It’s regular Syn 3 in all three holes from the factory on CVO’s, not break in oil. Ahhhh! Thought I found a competent service department.
OK, I got all worked up for nothing. The called me back about an hour and a half later and said it was done. Got home about 10 min after the call (was already on my way) and my son took me over to the dealership. They had in fact finished the 1000 mile service but were still washing the bike when I got there. I waited about half hour for them to bring it out. They did a good job and got it back to me when promised even if they did scare me when I called in.
