Many use OEM spec fuel lines inside the tank.... however the OEM fuel lines are obsolete and "Not Available". Just use a good, quality submersible fuel hose of the same inside diameter and it should last at least as long as the OEM hose. I'm partial to Gates brand fuel hose...

Good luck with your repair...

That's what I used, submersible fuel line is called R-10 Neoprene and its available from NAPA (at about $10 per foot.)

Thanks for all of the input. I pulled the fuel assembly and the pump looks aftermarket and not in bad condition. Also, I had to look up the configuration because in this bike there is a return hose from the system (see diagram). Upon initial inspection of the hose there are no holes, in fact all of them are still holding fuel. So, I am wondering if the splashing I was hearing was from the return line? I am not sure it would come back in the tank with that kind of velocity but had to ask the question before I start replacing everything.

You have an intake leak. The MM system is famous for it.

The fuel lines can have pin holes or small cracks that will look ok Until they get pressurized.
Ck them real close

I couldn't find leak on my 07, but was acting up on half tanks. I just replaced everything in tank. Was good. 55k miles, was ready to replace. Fuel pumps will leave you stranded

Talked the Harley dealer and did a bit more research and have come to the same conclusion that I will replace the fuel lines and pump and see if that fixes everything. Everything ordered and now just waiting.

Funny, having to do basically the same thing to a 2002 softail I am working on as well.

When you get in there re route the fuel line, it rubs on the metal bracket creating the hole, which under pressure lowers the fuel pressure, creating that problem.
Been there.
FSM states fuel filter should be replaced at 25K miles.

Ok so I got the new feed line with quick disconnect in today and installed it. No change. Turns out the splashing was from the return line. Idle is rougher now but the tank is somewhat low on fuel. No leaks apparent when I peak in the tank when priming the fuel pump so I can only assume that maybe the fuel pump is not creating enough pressure in the system. Have a new one coming tomorrow so will swap that out as well and see what happens. The fuel pump does make a high pitch whine while priming which sounds normal to me but maybe something else is going on.

One other thing, when I turn the ignition switch off, I notice an semi mechanical/electrical sound coming from under the tank around where the injectors are I think? Near the front jug.

Will keep working on it and let you know what happens.
