Don't rule out the ignition switch.
This happened a few times to me on my SG.
Turn on the ignition switch, everything seemed fined, but it wouldn't turn over.
Touched the ignition switch and if fell back into place. Seems I turned it just a little to far.
exact same thing happened on my 12 SG. never had a problem until I locked the forks a couple of times.
took the switch out a couple of weeks ago and lubed it up while working the key in the lock back and forth for a day. gonna lock the forks more often to see if the lube fixed it.
