I have a 2005 road king and would like to put some 14 inch ape hangers which I have already. I want to know if it’s possible to put these on my bike without adding cables and extensions I was told it can be done, but I’m just asking for others opinions thank y’all
What is understood, plenty of posts about it, you can. I just prefer to have proper length for turning and looks. Tight cable’s probably don’t help things. My .02
Yes I agree I’m just wandering if anyone has ever actually done it or heard of someone adding 14” bars without adding extensions, but thank you for you input!👍
Taller bars use longer cables, pretty friggin simple really. Because you've been "told" it's been done very much does not mean it's right nor safe, hang a cable while maneuvering you are going over.

I just got finshed putting 14 inch yaffe monkey bars on my 2013 king. I could mount the clutch, but it wouldn't turn to one side because of no slack in the cable. It's worth taking the extra time to extend everything thing. It was intimidating at first, but once you get in to it, it's not a big deal and you will thank yourself later. Just take a lot of pics of wires, connectors, cable and brake line routing.

HELL NO! It will not work. You must splice the wires or add extensions. Need brake lines and throttle/idle cables. Might need a clutch cable also.
Magnum Shielding is your friend. KST Kustoms pre wires bars if you don’t want to do it.

Sorry but for 14" you are going to need extensions no way around it
I'm 6' 2"and I have 14" Carlini menace apes and my arms sit perfectly straight out from my shoulders not too high not too low. You being 5' 9 your arms on 14s may sit higher than your shoulders causing fatigue on long rides... 16s I'd think would be too much too high for ya but again it's all a matter of taste and preference. Good luck finding the right bars it's a pain in the a@@ but essential for comfort!
