This got me thinking.
I went down a few years ago and one of my many injuries was to my brain.
This might explain why I am so much more mellow and understanding than I was prior to my crash.
You know, there's something to having a life changing event that can change the way we look at life. At 45 I went into a nursing home fighting for my life after 10 surgeries and a horrible infection. Doctors were throwing every antibiotic at me they could - liquids, pills, IV. It took 3 years to 'recover'. I had to learn to walk again and went through PT at the nursing home and at 3 other facilities. These days I appreciate life more and avoid drama that I would have allowed before. My attitude is much more mellow now, and I've learned to walk away from people who want to bring drama into my life.
I don't think events like this are 'all' bad. Obviously the recovery, cost and mental stress for the one hurt and the family close to them are awful, but the lessons learned about the fragility of life and the choices we can make for our own lives can be positives. I learned I don't HAVE to dedicate myself to my work. Changed from manual labor 5-6 days a week to an office job 3-4 days. It's been fantastic and I'm making much more than I did before too. Sure, there are aches and pains but that's life.
Chris, I hope your path to recovery is as smooth as it can be, and may there be good that comes from this also.
@NoRegerts glad to hear you're progressing. At least you're trending the right direction. I'm sure family visiting is special moment.
When you're healed up feel free to reach out. You can take my RG ST for extended test ride and get a feel for it. See if you wanna switch to shark nose family from bat wing family. I made the switch last year and so far "no regerts"
I was out kinda in your general area this weekend, went up to scope out Fandango rally in Fredericksburg. Wore my full face instead of half lid I normally wear after reading your original post. Might need to consider wearing it more frequently as I normally only wear when I commute in to San antonio
Glad you were able to walk away from it, speedy recovery to you, I know it's not easy, I wrecked last September, front wheel caught the edge on a left turn, that's all I remember. Out 3 months but still can't get on, every time I go to the dealer I walk away thinking what am I doing, hopefully that will pass. Prayers your way!
Lastly, my friend that picked up the bike. I was able to discuss with him after he inspected the bike. He believes the tread separated from the tire. There's a patch loose that didn't appear to be from the crash. That's not a debate, just report I got.
This makes sense based on your earlier report..
Sorry about the injuries. You certainly have a positive attitude. Good sign of healing.
It's important to find and focus on the positive. On more than one occasion, no matter how bad it is or it seems, I've reminded myself or others "we're gonna laugh about this one day"...
