I change all my FOB batteries twice a year, each time when I have to reset the clocks to either “Spring ahead” or “Fall back”.

I change out my battery every spring , and keep a spare in my saddlebag , never know if you might need it , or a buddy , or someone you run into . When I travel I take a spare fob and battery , but keep them separated unless I need it .

Right before my first ride of the year , I practice using the pin # start up ( memory sucks ) , using lower numbers between 1 and 5 really help . I keep my " how to " card with me at all times .

My Road King did not have the security option when I bought it in October of 16. I ran it for 2 years and had my Dealer add the security with Fobs when they did the brake flush in likely Feb of 19. Have never changed a Fob battery and never had an issue. I guess to save face I will say I start the bike a couple times a month with the pin so I'll not be stuck on the side of the road. When I think on this I've never changed a fob battery in any of my pick up's with the oldest being a 2002 and I've never had an issue. Maybe saying this will have jinxed me and tomorrow I'll have to change 16 fob batteries LOL.

I only change mine when it’s weak. They last a long time. I test them. I do carry a spare. When I go out of town, I always have two fobs, and I know my bypass pin.

I got tired of changing multiple batteries a year so now have programmed one Fob for all my bikes so I just have to change only one battery once a year , and also easy that I no longer have to
search which fob is for which bike. I have the spare fobs in the safe and I have some spare batteries in the packaging and a moisture absorber just to be sure.

This is brilliant.

It won't work for me because I have 2 bikes with 2 riders. But you got me thinking about it, so I'll try to program both FOBS to both bikes. That way when we're on the road if one gets lost we're covered.
