How long have you guys had your ride, do you trade up, if so when? What's the average length of time someone has the perticular bike they have now before they buy new?
I have big ideas for my SG, but I am just wondering how long will I actually have it before I want new again. So should I be dumping a ton of cash in it that I won't get back? So I thought I would ask how long you guys keep em.

Now we will separate the riders from the RUB's
KMA, dude! I buy/sell on my whim. I'm at the point in life where I know there's an end-point, and frankly if something out there catches my eye, I'll buy it! Life's too short to be spent worryin' over what someone else may think of me or my "stuff"! We do all our vacations on two wheels, and if there's a question in my mind about it leaving us stranded or being unsafe, then yeah - it's gone. It's our ONE hobby (other than gun collecting), and I enjoy knowin' we'll git there!
There IS a basket case rebuild in my future - but it's gonna hafta be a "steal" ta do it....we're doin' our danged best ta git this place paid off on a 10-year plan, so it kinda sucks the extry money quick!

EXACTLY. I usually don't even THINK about another scoot till I'm donetinkering withthe one I'm on, however, if something shiny catches my eye, I go for it. there is no set time for anything, except maybe death and taxes.
My first bike was a Harley Sprint SS350, bought in '72, that I kept for one year. My next bike was a Honda CL350 that I rode for three years. I didn't have a bike for a year or so, then in 1978 I bought my third bike -- a Triumph Bonneville thatI sold in 2004 along with two other Triumphs that I acquired in the 80's. I bought a Honda GL1100 Gold Wing in 2000 that I rode until this year when I bought my 89 Ultra. I expect to keep this bike until I can no longer throw a leg over it.
