ive got the 2014 version and mines the same. no hammering, just noisy sewing machine.

Hi all, a newbie Harley owner here, but 30+ years of motorcycling. Just got a 2015 Ultra Classic (flhtk) with a stage 2. I'm hearing a lot of noise/ticking from the engine. I already put in the Rockout inserts and that didn't help. Is the stage 2 just that noisey?

There are several things that MAY cause what you describe...
If you used adjustable pushrods;
The pushrods could be adjusted wrong. Remedy- redo the pushrod adjustment, make sure you are on the base circle, and go for a .130" preload on the lifter.
Some adjustable PRs will contact the pushrod tubes, near the top. You will usually see the witness marks from the contact. Remedy- drill out the top of the tubes to 5/8" down 2" from the top. I don't have the tools (or skill) and had mine done by a local machine shop.
Other possible causes:
You could have a lifter going bad. Remedy- remove the lifters and inspect them for wear and make sure the rollers are functioning well.
The rocker arm bushings and/or shafts could be worn out of spec. Remedy- the Service manual tells how to measure the play and see if they are within spec.
Those are just a few things you could check....

Have you ruled out noisy injectors? But aside from that, I had a twin cam that ran noisy with synthetic oil, and much quieter with real oil. What are you using?
