I had one installed about a month after picking up my new 22 SGS last year.
I love it. Its a lifesaver for the wifes leg. Before the fan, her right leg absolutely cooked in stop and go traffic in the heat. To the point she didnt want to ride with me in the heat anymore (she never had a problem on my Dyna).
The fan fixed that issue and even solo, it keeps the heat from rising up off the cat into my leg and side when Im stopped in traffic.
I put it on auto mode and leave it alone and it does its job.
I have one with midframe deflectors, the only heat I feel is from the air filter (metal frame of SE ventilator extreme), this is on stage 1 107 with stock header.
read reviews and opinions... they are gimmicky it seems.... de cat is best way to remove heat... but still these big bikes will get hot in the summer
Its a factory fan that blows hot air radiating from the cat down away from the passengers right leg. Gimmicky? It simply moves air. I can attest that my wifes leg no longer cooks after the install. YMMV.
Yes de-catting would be better if you dont care about your warranty.
