So I have a 2008 Fatboy with 15000 miles , runs smooth and strong.
I just bought a 2010 Electra glide with 20000 miles , runs good , the motor vibrates more visibly on the 2010 also it seems the 2010 has a lot of "clatter" on the top side of the motor
I have all the service records form the 2010 , it has been maintained at a dealer every 5000 miles. Like I said it runs like a top , just kinda noisy compared to the Fatboy.
Any ideas how to smooth out the 2010
Thanks for the help
SK
Fatboy is a rigid mount B motor with a counterbalancer internal to smooth it. 2010 is a rubber mounted drivetrain no counterbalancer, it's designed vibrate without transmitting it to the frame. You noise check the heat sheilds on pipes first then check the front engine mount and the upper adjuster links. G

Vibration is what an unbalanced Harley is. It will smooth out coming off an idle. To me it is what makes the bike feel alive, like a horse that is ready to go.
Clatter noise I dont have, I have adjustable pushrods cranked down to .140. Some use a product called Rock Something or other.
I have no experience with them but would give them a try if noise persisted.
My 06 EG would shake so much I couldnt read the gauges at idle. I did the engine mount thing, I did the fairing fix thing....the whole engine still shook like a prostitutes vibrator. It is what it is. As for noise....I noticed SO much noise with the batwing. Going from a naked bike to a full fairing was like sitting on the wing of a plane versus inside. If you think your top end is noisy, stand up and get your head into the windstream of the bike. Well out of the protection of the fairing. I bet you wont hear it anymore.
