Default Fuel gauge going bad?

Hey guys, got a 95 FLHTP. The fuel gauge was working and just started flaking out.
It appears to have a fluctuations issue. When it works it will hold then sort of bleed off to below empty.
Only way to get it to read is to move the handlebars very little. It starts to register again the starts the same thing. I have take the connector apart under the seat then the gauge nevers registers as expected.
I have the radio access panel off and have been wiggling wires but it starts register then bleeds off. Possible gauge going bad?
Any 💡?

Not sure I understand....Are you saying that when you wiggle wires, or move the handle bars it will then start to register....?

If so, then you have a bad connection. It could be in wire, a connector, or a connector pin/socket. You should check connectors for good, clean connections. Look to make sure there isn't a pin or socket in the connector that is bent and making only partial contact.

Also check wires by giving them a tug. You're not trying to break them, just see if they "stretch" a little. If they "stretch", there is a good chance the wire is broken inside the insulation.

Good luck with your diagnosis and report back what you find...

No I don't have to wiggle wires to get it to start bleeding off.
I can get it to start registering by slighly turning the front forks, when it becomes stable it stays that way anywhere from 10-20 seconds then without touching it the gauge starts deregisting(bleeding off).
I have checked the wires and see no apparent triggers to make it start bleeding off.

I'd say if it moving anything makes it work it's probably a connection issue.

If front fork movement can cause the gauge to react, unless shaking the bike itself (which could suggest a stuck, erratic float sender), the movement frequently translates to movement of the wire harness near the neck...

Follow the fuel gauge wires and see if they are pinched, or held on by a very tight zip tie, in the area of the frame neck.

I forget the year, but there were several electrical issues caused by super tight zip ties of the harness at the frame neck...

NOTE: Just realized you have an EVO. I believe the neck wire issues I spoke about were early Twin Cam bikes...
