Default repaint questions

I would like to give my old girl new paint ( after 22 years she has a few blemishes )

Need advice on the hardware removal and replacement, such as trunk hinges, bag and lid clasps etc. These are riveted on and will have to be drilled out. Has anyone found a tool and the proper rivets to reinstall ? or an alternative fastening system

My 85 has the traditional HD shield emblems on the trunk and tank, these I believe are glued on ??? any luck with R&R on these????

Thanks for any advice

have not pick a color scheme yet ---stock burgendy and charcoal or something new

Default RE: repaint questions

use 1/8" drill bits, nice and sharp.
HD has the rivets and the tool to re-install them, I think it works pretty good, you can also just get some all stainless steel pop rivets also, but they will leak a bit, unless you put a dab of silicone in the hole...
you can get the emblems off with a "cake knife"; a very thin and flexible blade, a couple inches wide to cut the 2 sided tape, then just carefully remove the remaining tape from the emblems and re-tape them, 3M makes some great 2 side tape, get it at a local paint and body supply store.
good luck,
K.
