My 2015 Street Glide CVO start button has been randomly non responsive for the last month or so. It happened 4 times yesterday and as you can imagine is a big problem. No clicking or anything. I keep trying it and it finally starts. I ruled out the key fob because it doesn't go into alarm mode. (No flashing lights or siren.). This AM I noticed it will start in neutral when it won't start in gear with the clutch pulled in which is how I usually start it.
Any of you wizards have any ideas where to start looking?
Squirt some electrical contact cleaner into the clutch lever safety switch and work it in and out, probably crudded up with bugs, dirt and such unless you have been working on that lever.

Faulty left switch pack affects:
1. Bike not starting in gear with clutch pulled, but bike starts in neutral.
2. Cruise control doesn't work.
3. Gear indicator doesn't show.
After it gets wet could cause it. Sometimes it can dry out on its own. Sometimes spraying it with wd40 will fix it.
Starting to look like neutral safety switch. Starts fine in neutral. (Wish I had figured that out in Sturgis.) Sprayed contact cleaner in switch from outside but still doesn’t start. Next energy burst I’ll order switches and replace them. Till then, start in neutral.
OP - I just did a redneck fix on mine this summer. My ‘16 Ultra Limited wouldn’t start unless in neutral. Cruise & gear indicator worked.
I was all ready to buy a new left-hand switch pack when I stumbled across a redneck fix. I can’t remember if it was on HDF or YouTube.
I filed a small trench in the clutch lever where it engages, the small neutral safety switch button. Just filing that **** flat didn’t seem to give me consistent results
So I looked at it some more and then took a rat file and put a small trench in there so the button could come all the way out. Repainted it semi gloss black and has been working right along.
It ain’t pretty, but nobody can see it.
