I'm also a fan of Freedom Shields (wide touring). Thicker than most and incredibly clear and distortion free. Very knowledgeable and will gladly answer all questions if you call them.
Ill tell ya, as far as fit, fitment and clarity the hd stuff cant be beat.
yepper... great quality shields... i use the smoked 12' when on long cross country rides and switch to the 10" otherwise... the 12' blocks wind much better but is right on my sight line
I have never had a Freedom Shield, but have heard good things!
I have 2 KWs (6.5 and 8.5) and a 12" HD Windsplitter that I bought in a wicked rain/sleet storm at the dealer in Decatur, Illinois while on a 6K mile ride. Great freaking people there, BTW!
I have zero of these distortion issues with any of mine, and I ride at triple digit speeds without issues of flexing, etc. that I see described about them.
I may try a Freedom, next time. I like the 8.5 KW Smoked Flare I have right now.
The older I get, the less I can tolerate the pounding head buffeting that comes with every windshield.
Eliminating the windshield is nice, but not for long highway trips.
The solution for me is a combination of lower (fork or fairing) deflectors to block updrafts, a gapped upper deflector to smooth the airflow over your head, venting to equalize pressure, and earplugs.
Give me any 3 of those 4 things and pretty much any shield will do.
I put a Freedom Shield on my 14 SGS and it's been perfect. But I do have one concern. Because it is thicker than the stock shield, the fairing doesn't close up as tightly, and there is a gap on each side. I imagine over time dust can get in there and possibly water. I would love to hear other's thoughts on this.

Are you sure the windshield isnt out of alignment. It looks like its not sitting flush in the recess of the inner fairing.
Try loosening it and pulling it up a bit. There is some wiggle room where the shield mounts to align it.
