Good morning, happy veterans day and thank you and welcome home to all the veterans out here.
So... I picked up the wife's new bike Saturday, and while I was there, I was given an unopened box of SE headers for my 2023 street glide. The service tech at the counter said they usually just get rid of them because most of the customers are going to like stage 3, not to stage 1 like I want to do. I have the se a/c installed and don't want to change the slipons from stock. I like the way they sound, quiet until I'm rolling and then they have a nice rumble. So he said to just change to these headers and tune the bike with this combo for stage 1. My question is... is it worth changing to these headers, are they really that high flow enough to make a difference without changing the slipons? I see it also has the cat built into it. I'm not interested in running without the cat, I don't have an issue there.
I guess my next question would be if the stock mufflers would even fit. I don't want street cannons.
Nah, musician. Just isn't an issue with me. I went from a 2008 electra glide classic pizza oven, to the 2023 SG. It's not an issue.
just curious if these headers are worth the time to put on to go to stage 1 with stock slipons.
Not likely with just an a/c upgrade currently. The original header flows fairly well as is. That said, I'd take the free SE header and store it away in case you decide to upgrade other things later.
Interesting to see what it looks like compared to the stock header.
I dont have the picture anymore but when I swapped my stock header for the Cobra Pro Chamber, visually the stock one is so restrictive, but many say its not. I couldnt believe by looking and comparing to my aftermarket Cobra header. Smooth bends without crimps and where the O2s went were indented so to speak on the stock header.
As far as stage 1, doesnt hurt to do one, sounds like you are a ride guy not looking for a few extra ponies that still doesnt keep you from being walked on by anything but a stock Harley. It certainly helped with my fuel mileage. And theres always buyer for the stock header.

Agreed.
I would not waste the time or install dollars, unless you are going for a more substantial upgrade at the same time, and the exhaust is already off.
Take the free part, I guess. I have seen these all over for sale for $150. They hand them out with the Stage 4 kits
