i can work on my own and yes i bought it already. our local dealerships will buy this bike if i try to sell it. they might not offer as much as i'd like but they will buy it. for what i need it to do i'm ok with the miles and age. my cross country days are done on a harley.

The group of guys I ride with have older harley's with high miles, they still park in the same lot as me , eat the same wings as me, drink the same beer as me and enjoy the day the same as me. And some of these older bikes quite honestly look better than mine. The only complaint I have ever heard one of them say is that he wished he had a six speed.

I think you paid a good price for this bike and I hope it works out for you.

Inner cam bearing is a weak point. Mine failed at 77k and it wasn't pretty. (same year and model except it was an ultra.)

yea once it was torn apart it had the original inner bearings but someone had upgraded the cam plate with the screaming eagle plate and pump. It now has the koyo Torrington bearings now.

Yah, when I installed this kit I also upgraded the inner bears as above. Glad I did.

Let us know what you find in the cam chest... If the spring tensioners are OEM, and haven't broke up at 72K miles, I suspect your link-style chains are pretty smooth... I'd pop some Cyco tensioner pads on those spring tensioners and ride on...!
i see bbp values posted quite a bit, might all be by you. i just looked it up and saw its a paid subscription. jd power is free, are their values generally similar? i know kbb is totally unrealistic. im wanting to buy a wing, but the post covid market is odd and im having a hard time determining value. feel free to pm if you dont want to discuss in this guys thread.

Black Book Powersports has two references. One is the paid subscription and the other is a free portal. My understanding is that both are based on reported sales prices. The paid subscription is current within a week. The free portal is about six to eight weeks old... So the free portal can be low on a rising market and high on a dropping market.

When I was searching for my LowRider, I would check both the BBP free portal (I don't have a subscription) and JD Power prices. From about 9/2022 until I bought my bike in 2/2023, for any given year, the JD Power numbers were about $600-$800 higher than the BBP numbers for "Average Retail"

Just now I checked prices for a 2016 Low Rider;
JD Power= Avg retail $10,240
Black Book Powersports= Avg retail $9,595
That $645 difference is the typical range of what I found all those months of searching...
KBB shows Typical listing price= $14,550... IMHO, listing price means nothing..

Here is the free BBP portal I use... I don't add a "select Cycle type", I leave it on "all model types". I just add year, then make, then model as the pic lists appear...

http://www.blackbookportals.com/bb/p...=thinkbank.COM

Note;
KBB lists "trade-in values" and "Typical Listing Price".
Black Book Powersports lists : "Finance advance", "MSRP", "Avg Retail", "Auction Wholesale", "Clean Trade" and "Fair Trade"
JD Power lists "Low Retail" & "Average Retail"
