If Im on the bike, I get away from the azzhat ASAP. If in my truck, well thats another story. I drive an old beat up F-150 4X4. I dont mind swapping a little paint if they want to push the issue.

Virtually impossible to get away from a agressive driver in bumper to bumper 4 - 6 lane traffic

If you try to stop on the edge of the road, some other idoit will run you down

Great suggestions but hard to execute

Used to drive the10 and 60 freeways in So Caleveryday, if anyone knows the area you know what a zoo it can be. Also seems like an inordinate amount of buttheads inhabit those freeways... The asswipes that would ride my *** would really get me cranked up, but like everyone says, it's hard totake ona car with a bike. Sometimes though, the traffic would get to the completely stopped mode, and sinceyou can split lanes there, sooner or later you get a chance to pass your new friend while they're stuck. Doesn't take much to ruin their nice shiny side mirror... Wouldn't always use that, but saved it for special individualsGuess it was my own version of road rage.
Yeah, that's the totally wrong approach, but itsure made the ride into work much more pleasant knowing they're sitting there as pissed as I was when they were playing games with my life.. Screw 'em.

I had a guy lookme in the eye and force me onto the shoulder because his merge lane "was running out". Ithought that if some locally found gravel were to find its way from my bike's tires to his front end/windshield, he might reconsider this move in the future. I just can't figure out how this might occur at a time when it's most needed.

The merge lane is one of the deadliest for driver and riders in NC

The a$$hole in the merge lane will ALWAYS try to get down the line ahead of everyone.

Will not fall in line behind anyone.

See it every day

About 15 years ago, I took some vacation and rode out to Colorado and rode up to the top of Pike's Peak. The rode is, you know, 1/4 mile then a hairpin turn, 1/3 mile then a hairpin turn, etc. all the way. And on the way down they got big signs; something like DON'T USE YOUR BRAKES, USE THE ENGINE TO SLOW YOU DOWN. On my way down the mountain, this clown pulls up behind me in his car, tailgaiting me. I just slowed down, and took it easy, and rode the way I was supposed to. He couldn't get around me for quite a while, so was on my rear for a long time, then finally passed me, and I could see him going for a long ways down the mountain and he was speeding up and then at each turn hitting his brakes, then speeding up, hitting his brakes at the turn, all the way that I watched him, then he went out of sight.
Back when I rode it, they had a checkpoint half way down the mountain, and they stopped everyone going down and checked their brakes. So I pull up and stop at the checkpoint and the checker is walking towards me muttering something about brakes so dam hot, mumble, etc. I said "huh, who, me?" He said "oh no, not you, we don't have any problems with Harley riders, I mean that guy over there." And they got this big pull off area where they had flagged this same moron to go to after telling him that he wasn't going nowhere. And there was the moron with the hood up, his head under it, and smoke and burnt brake smell coming out from the car.
Oh, boy, captive audience.
Now I don't recommend this. But I took a very leasurely drive over to where he was, and drove around his vehicle and politely told him what a dumb a$$ he was, and that if he would learn how to drive, he wouldn't have those problems. Har de har har har, dumb a$$.
And I drove away to the delightful sound of him cussing, sputtering, pissing, and moaning at me from under the hood of his car.

For what its worth.....I drive a semi for a living and those A-holes don't care if you have 18 wheels or two. They will cut you off and seriously compromise your following distance. They don't care if you have to run them over to stop.

There are some great semi-driver and just like bike riders there are sone real jerks

The majority of 18 w drivers will extend you every courtesy they can without endangering you are themselves. All you need to do is ride with a semi driver for a few miles and see the **** thye have to piut up with.

This happens everywhere and often sometimes. If I see a car looking as if he may do what you said then I let him/her have it. After all you knew what he was going to do when you decided to close the gap. Always watch a car/truck-if you can-their front tires the best you can and be safe. It is a early warning they are comming over. If someone has their signal on to come in my lane and we are not in a group ride I let them in. They are bigger and will hurt you a lot more than than you can hurt them. It is sad that it is this way but it's my azz if I don't let some things to take place. That is why I live on a mountain, lots less problems with cars/trucks. you did the right thing

Big truck drivers are trying to make a living and pay bills just like we do. Their are some jerks but most of them are more than willing to help a bikers. I was comming from Texas and a gal was really tailgating me and had been doing it for around 50 miles. 2 big trucks let me in betwen them and they blocked her so I could go on. Yes the wind from them can be a pain in the azz.
ride safe but often
