Thanks again!

I'm about to have my 1000K done on a 08 RK. What is the ball park cost for this and what do they do exactly--I trust that they don't f**k with the ECU (downloads etc) without telling you first???
Man, you do some riding. [8D]

So it would seem, but my dealer is over 100 miles away and that is the FIRST 100 I put on it taking it home (at between 30 and 50 mph) Took me all f****n day IN THE RAIN. I felt like a real biker by the time I got home :-). Twenty years ago I would have thought nothing of riding in the rain-snow-hail-ice-fog-wind-s**t storms etc. NOW if the sky clouds up, I whimp out and get on this forum [8D].

Normally it is not the oil that breaks down as much as the filter.
So are you saying that a genuine HD filter will not last 5000 miles like the scheduled service says.

Not at all. Just saying that oil is more durable than the filter itself. Way back when, I remember people would drop the filter in a car, add a quart and keep going. They would do that every other filter / oil change. I am not advocating you do that for your bike or anything of the sort before I get flamed.
