I can't offer any advice, but I sure do applaud your efforts to do this.

Is the transmission also for an M8? I would not have expected the M8 to bolt on to the twin cam transmission and have the primary case also just bolt on. If it is a new transmission I would GUESS that the tone wheel on the transmission output shaft has twice as many teeth compared to the old transmission. I am curious but obviously have no suggestions for fixing your problem.

From what I know about speedos is they marry to the BCM so if you used the BCM from the M8 with the TC speedo then there could be a problem. You may end up either seeing if you can use the speedo from the M* or get a new one and marry it to the M8 BCM

Pretty hard to switch from using 2 cams to 1.
It would be a Frankenstein bike for sure.
sure, tho your post said "I converted my 2014 TC to a 2018 M8 ", to me that didn't imply 'replacement'. Either way, good luck.

Not me, I am not the OP.
I wouldn’t attempt such a swap. Others are more creative than I and can dream up all kinds of creations. I agree the word converting is a bit misleading.
I think he should have converted to a twin cam shovel. ha.

If you have a techno research or a Diag4Bike tool, you can clear the "Vinerr" message in the speedo. You wont need a new one.

I have heard of this being an issue with the speedo. They marry to the ECM or BCM (I'm not 100%). I do not know of a way to unmarry and remarry them. So, if I had two bikes, and wanted to swap the gauges between them, they'd both have errors. The only fix I have seen is to get new, unused, unmarried gauges. Again, this is based on research and seeing others, I have not done this myself.

As far as your swap, I commend you on this. I think this is so cool! Were the frame mounting points the same? If the trans the one that came on the M8? Would the primary fit if it's the TC trans? So cool!
