I would get the TourPak with the TP's Luggage Rack. You never know when you may need the extra space for luggage.

Here is my luggage rack set up with a RickRak bag set up on the luggage rack. I prefer this set up when travelling 1 up. The above set up is for two up.

Why not go with both for flexibility and versatility :-) It's only money. P.S. Tour Pack got from Advanblack - Luggage rack and bags from Amazon. The RickRak kits from RickRak. :-)

I started my HD touring life with an Eglide standard. $10K damage in a sand storm outside of Death Valley got me to buy a new bike, an 05' Eglide but this time a Classic. I got it with the detachable tourpak. I toured extensively on the bike mostly with a company owned by a friend. The handling with and without the tourpak is very noticeable, that is to say way better without it. When I got my last bike, I ditched the full fairing and tourpack and got a 17' RKS. I use a full face with Bluetooth and bar mounted GPS so nothing on the fairing matterd so much any longer.

Anywho, when I tour two up I use a large Tourmaster bag on a large rack. Wife and I have done week long trips with it. When I am one up, I put a bag on the back seat. Look at photos of any of the models equipped with a tourpak and look how far behind the rear axle the weight is. Then look at taller bags like Saddleman or Tourmaster on a rack behind the passenger backrest. I firmly believe that even when two up, with my weight loaded closer to being over the axle, gives me better road handling. Just my thoughts, YMMV. You can find any number of bags on OfferUp or Craigslist super cheap. If you don't like them once you have tried them, you can leave em' like you found em'!

Luggage rack here. I have the smaller, overnight bag that you have. We've gone away for a week and not needed anymore than that, whatever my saddlebags will hold, and my wife on the back with her backpack. I could/would never put a tour pack on my bike, I realize the practical use but I can't stand the way that looks.

Don't know how much riding the OP does with a helmet. For me, shopping in town (about 3 miles) is the only time I don't use a helmet. The rest of the time, the King tour pac makes great lockable storage for my helmet and any over flow from the saddle bags. The TP is keyed the same as the scooter. Originally I intended to only use it for traveling but found it to be so handy for daily use I never removed it. Opening and closing the tour pac was more convenient than the old two handed saddle bag lids.

I rode my 2019 FLHTP without a trunk for a couple of months. I was leery about my helmet sitting on the bike while I was someplace. I purchased a Harley trunk and added the luggage rack on top of that. My full face or my full helmet fit in the trunk and I can lock it them away. I use the top bag while traveling for riding gear adjustments through that day.

I feel like a Tour Pak is the cleanest set-up. I took the rack off of mine for a more sleek appearance.

Good Thread. I currently have the King 2-up luggage rack which I find very versatile; I can always bungee another item when camping (see pic in signature, but I do camp with a larger dry bag on it these days). I'm in the planning stages of a a longer trip for 2026, that will probably be ~7 days of hotel accommodations. No camping gear. So I'm debating between a conventional King Tour Pack vs. the RickRak Roller Bag Kit which fits my luggage rack. The RickRak will be more cost effective, and I can always simply remove it when I'm not on long trips. Tour Packs do look cleaner and can be adorned with more lights. BUT the TP configs all cost considerably more.
Decisions Decisions...
