Well, the customer base has certainly changed, I'm somewhat confident that 80% of people that have bought new Harleys in the last twenty five years couldn't find the dipstick or put air in the tires...

There are numerous things to complain about when it comes to HD but part hunting is not high on the list...
I'm glad to see I'm not the only one. I can find parts for the HD WAAAAAAY more easily than for the Honda.

I haven't purchased anything in a Harley-Davidson dealership in over 10 years. My independent stop takes perfectly good care of my 2006 Harley Davidson Electra Glide. Never a problem getting parts, and my bike runs like new! I find independent shops employ more knowledgeable mechanics because most of them are older, and they don't look down their nose at you if you ride something over 10 years old

I wouldn't say 80%...maybe 60%. The other 20% are new to Harley's, changed oils in the cars and think they are mechanics and then "build a hot rod motor" with no thought about the rest of the drive train. And then they blame HD for crappy parts while those parts worked fine in stock trim. Meanwhile, those folks now state that Harley's are unreliable for traveling and therefore they now trailer everywhere.

Someone in here has a signature something like "The worst thing for a Harley Davidson's reliability is it's owner". 100% true.

It took me about 45 minutes to swap out the GL1800 Goldwing Air filter, and then there was all of the cleaning that needed to be done.
