Default Additional cig lighter adapter

I need another power source for XM.I would like to put the extra cig adapter on the right side of the fairing. I thought about having the dealer do it, but want to look at other options if there are any. Any idea on what the dealer charges for this? I need to power source on the fairing on the right side based on current XM wiring inside the fairing. Thanks!!

The P & A catalog had a cigarette lights asembly that can be mounted anywhere there is room on the fairing.

Powerlet has mutliple solutions for the same thing.

The P&A piece is okay, however the Powerlet stuff is quality.

Take youe choice, it is your 4s

Are you leaving the XM cradle hard-wired to the bike? If so, do what I did. Remove the outer fairing and get an adapter with alligator clips on one end and 12V female on the other end at Radio Shack. Cut off the alligator clips and hard wire it in parallel to your existing 12V plug. Tie-wrap the new plug to something solid behind the fairing. Plug in XM adapter to the new plug and tie-wrap the two plugs together so they don't vibrate apart. That's it. If you don't understand and need more info I am taking my fairing apart this weekend. I can take a picture if you need it.

While my dealer had the fairing off my bike to install chrome lowers, wheels, etc, I had themjumper fromthe existing cigar lighter plug on the left side of the fairing and put another on the right side in about the same position. Doing it like this, it is fused and keyed same as the factory one. I keep a GPS plugged into the left side andI figure I'll never overloadthese with a GPS and an XM radio. HD makes an accessory cigar plug just like the one that comes on the fairing, which is what I used. It has a rubber cover when not in use. Not a big deal to install.

Or just cut the plug off of the XM lead and wire it directly to to the existing plug behind the fairing (or any other 12v accessory). Just make sure you have the polarity correct.

Nope, that won't work. Not on mine anyway.[&o] My XM adapter had a built-in transformer. I think it steps it down to the needed voltage for the XM component. Other XM heads may be differnt though. Mine is a SkyFi 2.

It's actually built into the plug?

My old XM Roady was just a standard plug.

Just double checked with my car adapter. Voltage coming out of the adapter reads 6 Volts.

Yes. I have the XM cradle mount where I want to leave it permanently. I like the idea of wiring an adapter to the inside fairing. If I do this, can both plugs be used at the same time (the new one paralleled inside the fairing and the original one outside)?

Since the XM (Inno) operates on 5-6 volts, depending on model, I put a new lighter adaptor in the fairing, wired from the orig lighter. Then placed the cradle in one of the fairing bags and still use the Aux input for the sound. Can't even see the XM in case I forget to take it out...and it is always charging, with a good antenna source to boot.
