You can’t go wrong with Super Shox. I’ve had a few different brands and SS are by far the best ride quality. The numbered scale and the recommended chart makes adjustment super easy! No more guessing for solo or two up riding. Wife said the SS were worth every penny.

Pro Action rebuilt my shocks after 70,000 miles and 5 years for free. Sent them Monday and had them back by Friday.
Have suspension technology front cartridge's up front and they are much better than stock. I might have tried looking at pro action front end stuff but they don't make them for the older bikes.

Here is a comparison report LINK on shocks. You may find it useful/interesting.

Here is an excerpt from the report linked above on the Touring Models.

Here is a video that may be useful. I do not know of ANY other company the dyno tests each shock after assembly and before shipping.

I like my Ohlins, but Legends are nice and a lot of people like them. Before dropping coin on different shocks, make sure you follow the complete set up procedure. Set your sag, and then adjust the preload based on your weight and that of your passenger when they ride. I imagine you'd be happier than spending a ton on something and still have to make the same adjustments.

some good input from riders on this thread. most of the better shocks are above $800 for the pair and i didnt want to spend that yet on the rears since i ride solo 99% of the time.
the Progressive 412 was the right choice for me at only around $300, replacing the VERY crappy air shocks that were on the bike when i bought it.

After 20 years I replaced the 2001 RK crap air rear shocks with Progressive 444HD stock height shocks (me & my bags are 325 lbs). Set "sag" preload and the ride is MUCH better! Now feels taught on road instead of wallowing over every bump and bounce.
*At the same time I installed same company strut cartridge replacements (replaces front fork springs and oil set up). Set at most firm, with similar results. Happy camper.
