LH switch pack
2017 Ultra Limited: I changed heated grips, nothing on the left switch pack worked afterwards. Fuses all good, connections all good, condition of all connectors looks good. Gauges and lights came on but can't cycle through the odometer, no brights, horn, radio/home and I assume cruise wouldn't work if I were to ride it. The right switch pack worked fine. It's a 4-wire harness from the pack to the connector inside the fairing just below the radio rack; 1. Power (red), 2. Ground (green) 3. CAN high (red/white) 4. CAN low (white/black). Continuity was good on all except the CAN high so I figured I broke it when swapping out the grips. Without knowing if the switch pack is good or not, I spliced the wire hoping to be able to use it until a new harness comes in and also I could hopefully check out the switch pack better. The problem now is that things got worse after I spliced it. I have continuity in all 4 wires now but the gauges don't light up, the odometer doesn't come on at all (let alone cycle through) and the right switch pack doesn't work at all either. What I am wondering (and maybe someone with more electrical knowledge of these bikes can tell me) is, are some of the electrical components in the bikes these days so sensitive that possibly just splicing that wire changed the resistance even ever so slightly to mess up the workings of it all? I'm down to the point where I'm thinking it has to be either that or else the switch pack decided to take a complete dump. I did pick up a new pack tonight just in case but I'm leery to throw it in there as of yet because I don't want to possibly damage it (at $250) with an electrical problem that might affect it. I would have been more willing to try it had things not got worse after splicing. Thanks for any info.
