The short version, unit started with ABS, but since you have to use a scanner to cycle the pump to do a brake fluid power flush every two years, Hence the brake fluid will pull humidty out of the air to have water in it, and if not power flushed every two years, the water in the fluid will cause problems with the abs vavles to corrode them. S0 the lack of brake fluid power flushing with ABS cycling, caused the unit to fail, and since it costly and again, need scanner tool to cycle the pump and vavles during the power flush, old owner removed and by pass it, leaving you with a bike that the ABS warning light is on full time now.

Basically jumped out the ABS. Now I'm sure you must have some TDC codes since the wiring is unplugged.
No codes show up at all.
As I'm coming from an 81shovelhead all this "new"technology is just that......NEW to me!
That being said........anything that is not working properly should show up on the dash as a code?

I would expect that the yellow ABS warning light would be flashing on the speedometer. Is that not the case?

Maybe the abs light would be on all the time. Normally it just comes on at start up.

What would suck if you had a code, you would never know when you got real code.

With bike off, hold tripometer button. Turn on bike. Release. Will show codes. Then Google number

1. That year and model also came without ABS.
2. The previous owner probably had a dealer with a digital technician or an independent with the appropriate scan tool change the settings to non-ABS so no codes etc. show up. Looks like the ABS elimination was done the correct way.
3. Ride on and enjoy.

NOTE:
The above information, while credible, is worth what you paid for it and should not be considered gospel.
Do due diligence, research and have a H-D Field Service Manual before working on your bike.
You will probably have many opinions and suggestions presented; make sure you research the person providing the helpful information as there are some who provide good information that is useful and some who speak out of other orifices with gibberish. You will figure out this quickly.

My thoughts too. Digital Tech removed the ABS option.

No code!
Only thing that shows is the motor symbol at startup.
That goes of and dash is clean.

My ABS pump is giving me a C1055 error, dealer did the abs fluid change recall a year ago. I flushed it two more times using TwinScan, the code mostly pops up in the morning when it's cold but usually doesn't come on the evenings when it's time to go home. Brakes work just fine but IF my levers lock up again, I am bypassing it the same as the original poster did. (My original ABS pump locked both levers up, this is a replacement and won't be replaced again.)

You said, Looks like the ABS elimination was done the correct way."

I respectfully disagree..... IMHO, the correct way would have been to flash the ABS light to off, AND replace the ABS lines, with the proper non-ABS lines as you showed in your pics.

Obviously more work & money in the "correct way" but it removes all the extra fittings and potential leak points from how 81shovleheads!'s previous owner did it. The previous owner just removed the ABS module and then connected the ABS lines' fittings together so the ABS brake lines functioned like non-ABS brake lines... That IMHO is sloppy work and a short cut.

It would certainly work, but I consider that a "mickey-mouse" repair, not the "correct way".. (does anybody still use the label "mickey-mouse" for a short cut, and/or sloppily done mods?)

I offer this critique of the way it was done in 81shovleheads!'s picture by the previous owner, for anyone wishing to eliminate the ABS module in the future... Like Sc0- mentioned in the above post..
