Relocating coil from pre 2024 to previous year model
I really dig the idea of installing coil on my 2022 RKS in location where it is mounted on 2024 touring models (similar to 2018-2024 Softail model location). Wonder if anyone tried it and/or how difficult this might be. I guess I could use coil cables from 2024 models and I would assume I will just need to route power to coil to go under tank and to where the horn is now.
They have this nice coil covers and I really like the look as this horn is useless anyway.
yep, just did this last week! I used softail coil and coil bracket (the bracket had to be cut), for my conversion, the plug for the coil harness needs to be changed, as well lengthened obviously

Dang this is looking sharp man. Did you install horn somewhere else or just toss it into the trash? I assume you had to remove the tank and bunch of guts to get to original coil?

thanks! it wasn't a bad conversion honestly. You need a coil, the bracket and a different plug, terminals, and seals, you'll also need some quality wire to extend the harness. I found a used soft tail coil on ebay, as well as a softail bracket, the bracket needs cut as it mounts to the jugs and the frame on the soft tail, on a touring model, it only mounts to the jugs. The old coil is still in place as it's a pain to remove lol, I'll get to it another time. As far as the horn, it is mounted up behind the oil cooler, totally hidden.

Thanks for more details. Any chance you can snap a picture of your horn location that sounds nice as well.
here's a few pics of the horn relocation. couple different angles to show how it's completely hidden. I used a piece of 1/16" thick steel that I put a couple bends in to get the horn where I needed it.

with the horn that close to the road, how will it be affected in the rain?
we will see, I don't ride in the rain often, but do get caught out on ocassion, it's not much lower than the 24 models honestly, however, it is in line with the front tire, so it is more in the line of fire, so to speak. If I have to replace it yearly, I'm fine with that...

yeah, I've never been a fan of the cow bell, I did coil relocations on my last three Harleys because of that ugly *** thing!
