Long Ride Shields Re-Curve was my go to for years. But on my 2019 FLHTP, and using the police saddle, I now run the Madstad windshield system. And then to augment that, I took an old LRS Recurve shield I had, cut the bottom straight across and mounted it to the Madstad mounts. Now I can smoke a cigar up to about 70. The Madstad system is adjustable for height and angle. https://madstad.com/collections/batw...-glide-2014-up
I am 6'7", 36 inch inseam, and Ride with a police saddle. SO I am V_E_R_Y tall on this bike.
So now the OP knows.....windshields are like seats and oil.....everyone has their opinion usually based on what THEY have.
My suggestion is to read the RETURN POLICY of whichever company you want to try. Since I own a Freedom Shield I know from experience they will easily accept any returns IF the protective covering isn't removed. Other companies might be similar. From experience I know it's best to follow the measuring guide as a starting point. In my case, I ordered what I thought was the perfect size but wound up returning it for another that was 1" taller. So the return policy details are important to know before you order.
My Freedom Shields "Wide Touring" shield with recurve has been perfect, distortion free, clear, thicker than many, and beautifully finished. They will go into more detail if you call them.....as most of the other companies do too.
Ive tried a bunch! Very happy with my current Clearview 8in recurve. Its hard to beat the looks of the Klockworks but for me it just didnt block enough wind for the wife and I.
I ordered the Clearview and found it good for buffet etc. If you wanted the adjustable vent it's quite good when not raining but when it does rain I found it leaked a little bit.
I had a 12" LRS recurve on my 2010 Ultra and loved it. I could just peek over the top if needed but it made the wind go completely over my 6'2 height noggin.
Now on my 2023 Ultra Limited I tried a similar shield and guess what? I still get a blast of wind in my face from that stupid rain hole Harley put in there with the Rushmore redesign. I love the 114 engine and GTS head unit in my new bike but pretty much liked everything else better on my 2010.
I stuck a towel in my “stupid rain hole”😀. I have a windshield bag on mine so you really can’t even see it under the bag but I agree with you, I could definitely do without the vent.
