Default Road King Console help

2007 Road King Classic

I am looking for a little help before I do something stupid. I am trying to remove the console from my tank. It is held on with two fasteners. The top one is a simple acorn nut. The lower one is covered by a medallion with no knurling or wrenching flats. The console will slide forward about 1/4". What's the trick to loosening the lower fastener? The manual is silent on this and I haven't found and YT videos for this generation.

Often times if you go to the HD website and look up the part there will be an exploded diagram that will help you figure it out.

I agree with eighteight. Below is a pic of the King console similar to the OP. There's just a washer and a screw holding it on that end.

The older bikes had a round metal washer and phillips screw at that location.
Might not be this one but I have seen a similar medallion many years ago.
Basically the medallion had a center part that was a pop-out.
Used a sharp plastic spatula corner to pop out center part of medallion.
Then you could see head of bolt.
Here is a link to a parts fender to better understand what fuel tank below console looks like:

Had that medallion on my RK.
Pry up the tiny black insert in the center of it. That will give you access to what is likely an Allen head screw underneath.

I have pried the heck out of this and it is not breaking free. If I put more into it, I expect I will end up gouging the console. I will try to find it online to get more informaiton. If any of you can find it, shoot me a link.

Don’t pry the medallion, pry out the little black insert in the center of the medallion.
