Default Fueling OE+ Kit

So I am pushing 30k miles on the 06 SG and will be updating to the OE+ Fueling cam plate and cams kit. I will run a canned Techno Research tune until I can get a Dyno tune. The tensioners looked decent when I inspected them at 26k miles, but why wait to wake her up a bit. I have heard the Fueling cams are decent with the stock TC88 and that the factory 06 cams were pretty terrible to begin with. I did S&S 509s on my last TC88 and they were a great upgrade, I expect the Fueling cams will be similar. Looking forward to a little more punch on the SG.

Pull old cam plate and pump, then check the run out on the crank, If only .003 or less then forgo the chain driven plate upgrade to hydro tension shoes (stock on the 07 TC motors and up),and go with gear drive plate. Hence gear drive, instead of chain drive front and back, don't have to get into the motor every 40K to change out the belt tension shoes.
https://www.feulingparts.com/itemimages/8032/8032_4-l.jpg[/img]

If the crank run out is .004" but less than say .010", then your back to having to run the chain system, and where the spring load to hydro shoe tension like above, would be the test. I state .010" but some stock motors can have run out in the .012" that HD increased to on the 07 TC motor, since guess that know that they were going to be problems and up'd the amount for warrenty run-out to ,012", but where the motor should really be pulled apart, to correct that much run out on the crank instead.

next, pull the rear cam bearings out of the motor, and change with new Koyo bearings..
The new cam plate kit should come with new pump and bearings, so should have you covered for parts there.

As for cams, need to know your intent, since SG if riding two up, will want cams that come on low and well through the mid range where you will be most of the time, instead of cam that comes on hard mid and highs, but giving up power in the lower range where you going to spend most of your time riding instead. Also, some cams work better with higher compression than others. Last one, with new cams, get new lifters, and depending on the cams in play, may be fine with the Johnson stock 2303 lifters, or may want to go slow leak down or even ones with limiters if cams are wild enough.

Simply, there is no best cams for every rider, and need to know the intent of your riding style (where you need to make power), if the motor compression has been raise or not, and then we can come up with best cams for you for the TC motor.

I had the Fueling kit installed last August at 35,000 miles. Tensioners didn't look too bad, but I wanted them out of there. I'm loving the Fueling kit, the new oil pump raised my pressure from 30 at speed and 10 at idle, to 65-70 at speed and about 50 at idle. New lifters, pump, bearings, etc. He did not replace the push rods with adjustable ones, he says he doesn't like the adjustable ones, so he pulled the top end instead, and also installed a new cam. Total bill was a little over $1800, but I'm good for the next 100,000 miles!

Nope, and with the updated Hydro tension shoes and chains still in play, unlike the older spring loaded shoes that you need to replace about every 40K , the 2007+ hydro shoe tension update, still need to replace the shoes about every 60K instead.

The gear drive plate does away with the chains and shoe tensioners, so it the don't have chains or shoe tensioners to worry about wearing in the first place.

The downfall, in 2007, HD increased the factory acceptable crank run out to .012" that could be coming out of the factory on new motor, while to use the gear drive plate, you have to have .003" or less crank run out in the first place.

There are hundreds of bikes with over 100,000 miles on them with the original tensioner pads that came with the bike when new. After 2007, 2006 on the Dyna line, the tensioners were no longer an issue.

Now that the 99-06 (Touring) spring tensioners are getting older (and not so much at the forefront), let's Not turn that negative energy (anti-tensioner) onto the 07-later Hyd

So the shop contacted me and the Fueling kit was missing the plate when they opened the box 🤯 Working in manufacturing and project management for the last couple of decades I am sadly not surprised, just disappointed. Plate is in the way from Fueling apparently, but I am missing a great riding weekend here in the dark corner of SC...

I also went with Fueling on my 06 Road glide and the hydraulic tensioners.. However, I kept the stock cam and replaced the bearings. Also replaced the lifters. I love the new oil pump pressure too. My bike is running great, I've been on it all day. I'll ride this thing forever,
