like i said in another thread- in reference to the problematic trannys, does the Baker "fix" actually correct the transmission problem? OR does the IDS MASK the underlying problem.
I guess I will pee on this, IDS will not cure whine. The 5th gear whine is still in the 08s because like the 07s its from different cut gears. The whine has never been a issue to us who understood why it did it and that it was not anything to fret about. Some guys had clatter, a very few, IDS has been said to cure this. I owned 2 07s and neither had clatter but its good that something has been developed that helps this condition for those that did.
The IDS did not cure the whine for me. But for some reason it did quite it down some... I can't figure out why. But glad all the same.
As far as clatter...all gone. THANK GOD...and FINALLY.
Really love the bike again...

I guess that is my question. Is the noise a problem or a nuisance? I haven't hear of any mechanical problems created by the "clatter or whinning".
Exactly. I've heard of no mechanical failures in the '07 transmission. Therefore, the IDS is an improvement. Car manufacturers make improvements every year, but they don't retrofit these improvements to previous years for free. Let's get real here.
My question is why does it even matter? Fix or improvement? Who cares...Lets get real.

The improvement in my ride is unbeleivable! Like the man said I fell in love all over again. I don't know why it was not put on the 07 as there is a place for it.
I'm just glad there was a fix that did not require a lot of expensive mods.

I figure that they maybe planned to put it on the 07's but could not get production up to speed.
spend 25 years in Hueys and you won't complain about tranny noise. LOL. there are several riders around here with 07s and say they don't hear anything unusual and one of the guys gets a new RK every year.
