If you've ever taken a stock bagger up a long hill and had cagers going by you in the slow lane, you'll know what I mean..
Really? Can't say I've had that problem yet. Although I live in Michigan and my idea of a hill could be quite a bit different than yours.

I have a bone stock 2007 FLHX. I use Amsoil 20W50 engine oil and Redline Shockproof Heavy Duty Gear Oil and the bike runs great!I believe from all the discussions I've read that unless you are planning on major changes to the breather, exhaust, cams etc that will demand new fuel/air maps, the primary reason for an ECM on a stock motoris to richen the mixtureto cool the engine on very hot days. I believe I have also read that if I add slipon mufflers to improve the quality of the exhaust sound, I do not need to tweak the fuel injection unless I also change the air breather system.
So for all of you that are quite happy with your bike like I am with my 2007 Street Glide except maybe for the need for a better exhaust note, spend your $ on something else.
If I lived three blocks south of the North Pole I wouldn't have any heat-related complaints either, and like you would've been perfectly happy to leave mine "bone stock"...

I have been watching all the posts about this and I have planned my idea. Like all bikes they are great initially, then you get used to the powerband etc. I am going to ride this one stock until next winter. then the pipes and mods will come into play. It will be mor fun to make my RG trhilling again than buy another.

If you are happy now, richen that puppy up a tad, and you'll be ecstatic.....

I thought we were talking about slip-ons and not jugs. May just be the angle of the picture, but appear that they have had their baffles removed?

So can someone tell me if i put on a fuel pak, (V&H, PCIII, Thunder MAx) first, will it give me any changes in engine cooling, or mpg. Also which one of the fuel paks are easiest to use ,and or change. I do want to put on an air cleaner, maybe some pipes, but doing it all once is a lot of money in one hit, hard to hide that kind of money from the wife. (im sure some of you know what i mean, wink) so i will have to do my stage 1, in small stages..so anyone help out here...

Mestude- I went with the V&H Fuel Pak for ease of installation and low cost. It cools the engine down and I still get 48-49 mpg on the highway at 60-65 mph.

I run the stock air cleaner as I saw no difference with the aftermarket "hi-performance" Big Sucker, and I run Rush slipons.
Paid $250 for the mufflers and $180 for the Fuel Pak, both bought new off Ebay stores.

So so true. I thought my bike was running great pre-Tmax. Now I see that it ran good but not great. The Tmax just smooths out the whole bike. Throttle response is much better. Gas mileage is up. Engine temp. is down. My question isn't why did I buy this thing but why didn't I do it sooner.

Throw a T-Max on that thing and see what you've been missing!
