Well I guess I should watch how I say things didnt even dawn on me at the time. I had the dealer install True duals and VH pipes maybe they messed with them then. I will go have a talk and see. For now I will put on some anti bag rub.
FYI: The best way to reinstall the bags is to loosen up the brackets, set the bag on the support bar as far back as it will go without the bottom channel of the bag coming off the support bar. Install the pins through the brackets and then tighten the bracket bolts.
This is correct, but be sure to check the rear light as well. I have about 1/4 of an inch to play with on the right side of my bike. I have 3/4 of an inch on the left. The tail light assembly is crooked on mine.
That clearance is to be checked as part of the PDI (pre-delivery-inspection). If your dealer gives you any crap, ask why it wasn't handled at the PDI (he'll be impressed if you show you know the lingo). It most certainly should be rectified by the dealer - not, HD.
My right side saddlebag rubbed through the paint and into the material along with the right cover. I readjusted the quick disconnects and called the dealer. Service manager said that was not a warranty item. He said the person who assembled the bike was required to check it and apparently he failed to do so. He stated it would come out of their department budget. He ordered me a new side cover and saddlebag that day. he will call whenthey come in. This is one reason I am willing to ride 2 1/2 hours vs only 1 hour to another dealer. The professional service is worth it, besidesit is a nice ride. If I don't forget I will take a couple of pictureson post them tommorrow.
I did a "headsup" type post about a month or so ago on this same subject as I too was the winner of a sidecover paint blemish caused by the factory not adjusting the bracket properly on the hard bags. The adjustment is very easy,so just remove the bags and move the bracket back to be sure the upper corner of the bag does not rub the sidecover.... You can not see the rub when the bag is one, but when you remove the bag the sidecover paint rub can be seen....
