Default trans slipping???

it sounds strange, but it feels like my '07 ultra classics 6 speed transmission has started to slip and grab when shifting into third?
only does it in 3rd gear after shifting when under acceleration. let off and it grabs and works fine. feels like it's slipping then grabbing!
anyone else ever experience something like this????

I don’t know your riding style. If it is slipping in third, it’s slipping in other gears. Third might just be the combination of engine torque and your riding style that manifests the symptom. Gears don’t slip, the clutch does.

I’d take a look at cable adjustment and then I’d be looking at the friction discs. They can harden and/or glaze over time depending on riding style. The 07s had good churches but it’s also almost 20 years old.

It's not your transmission that is slipping.

Kind of going with this in regards to trans and gears engaged, unless you have stripped the spines out of the front belt pulley, and its just the tension of the nut to shaft, that is holding the pulley in place.

So would start with pulling the clutch, to give it a once over, since may be that the friction discs are worn out, or your throwing more power at the bike now, and its the clutch spring that does not enough tension to hold the clutch from slipping isntead.

It's very possible that you have a worn down 3rd gear and the dog ring also worn down.
When guys with high horsepower motors strip 3rd gear, it generally is because it won't stay engaged and strips the gear because it slams in and out of gear under power.

Ohio has the answer.. It is the tranny. Need to replace those parts plus the shift fork.. Probably worthwhile to rebuild the whole thing.. Go to a heavier trap door.. Replace the main driver gear bearing. Or install a Baker.
