Default Electrical

I have a 94 ultra, having issues with resister under the seat getting hot and shutting bike down, losses all power, after 5 minutes or so it’ll cool off and I have power again, changed resister not the issue, obviously what ever the resistor of connected to has a short, trying to figure out what’s connected to that resistor.

Are you talking about the circuit breaker? If so, what amp are using, 40 or 50 or?

Oh got me there, I thought it was called a resistor, you can hear it make a click sound when it cools down. It’s in the frame under the seat

If you replaced it and it still pops, chop off the terminals and crimp/colder new ones on.

Sounds like the breaker is opening and then resetting when cool. You need to determine if the amp draw is higher than the rated capacity. If the draw is lower than the circuit breaker capacity you may just need to replace the breaker. If the breaker is getting overloaded you'll need to determine the cause.

We're here on this forum to help each other and my best advice to you is to take the bike to a competent mechanic. I don't say it to be mean but if you don't understand what a circuit breaker is and what it does, and are confusing it with a resistor, it tells me you don't understand even the basics of electricity and practically anything we tell you will be completely foreign to you.

On the wires.. The problem is that, with age, the crimp connections become resistive and the heat from the resistance trips the breakers (not resistor).. A sure sign is that the terminals get hot. They should not.

Just curious, did this just happen out of the blue, or has there been some work done on the bike recently?
