i just had some new v & h big shot staggards put on my 07 heritage. when i got home i pulled off the seat to see the dealers handywork. i noticed it appears they cut into the bottom of the seat (notched it out) to allow the power commander to fit. they previously had said that they were having an issue getting it to fit and that the heritage needed a special adapter then 30 minutes later they call and say they figured out how to make it work.little did i know that ment notching out the underneathof the seat. obviously its not noticable and the pipes sound great but i am pissed about the seat.anyone have similar issue w/power commander placement?am i over-reacting by telling them i want a new seat
The power commanders are supposed to come with a deeper pan based on application. If they didn't have the deeper pan, they should have found it. I'd be pissed..I get a new seat and check Powercommander and make sure you get the right pan.
Over-reacting? Hell no! No way they should have done that without your ok...they'd owe me a seat, and a professional resolution to the installation problem...
I had mine installed at the Dynojet Tuning Center, and had the same problem because there's no room under the seat of an '07Night Train...the Tech and I decided to put it in the holder for the alarm system, since I didn't order one with my bike...fit in there like it was made for it...point is, he checked with me, and let me make the decision...if he'd hacked my seat, there would have been problems...
that is some **** i would be pissed right off if they did that. I have a 04 Fat Boy and i just put on a power commander and it took some time but you can find room with out hacking on the seat. My power commander came with a deeper pan and i would think that yours would to so there is no excuse for chopping on your seat. get a new seat and tell them you want your money for labor back.
That'smessed up. I thought the power commander was a bolt on. Have to keep that in mind if I ever decide to get one.
The PCIII's were always a pretty simple install fitting right under the seat, butthe Dynojet Tech told me that starting with the '07's there were clearance issues...there are solutions, tho, and noone being paid to do an installation should be resorting to hacking a guy's seat...that's just shabby work...
I just installed a power commander on my '07 Train and it fits fine.
The main unit itself actually goes behind the oil tank, but in front of the mud guard for your back wheel,
kindof in the front of the swingarm. you twist tie it just above a plastic holder for the optional alarm system. just above the main pivot bolt for the swingarm. This is done through the hole in front of the rear wheel, where your passenger pegs are. You remove the mudguard to get in there ( it goes back on after )
run the wires up through a hole in the frame behind your fuse housing. You have to remove the mounting plate that the fuse housing attached to, and afterwards just tuck the fuse housing behind your battery without the mounting plate.
the connectors go behind your battery and to the right of the main computer on your fender.
There's a flat spot there now, because your fuses are behind the battery a bit more.
when attached down flat with the included velcro, the stock seat fits over it fine.
it's a bit of a pain in the *** to do, but worked for me.
I got my PC from fuel-moto and it came with instructions, and pictures.
update on my power commander issue. i just spoke w/ service mgr told him i wanted new seat and correct power commander.he says he will take care of it.time will tell. i'll give him 1 week.i followed my phone covo w/ him w/ a letter just in case he changes his tune later. thanks for all the input.
I've got the Fuelpak, but I'm sure it's similar to the power commander. Mine also came with a replacement pan for the electronics to fit under the seat. Took about 2 minutes to install.
further update.the dealer recieved my follow-up letter/fax and immediatly faxed a reply saying they would get me a new seat and the correct pan.they were not too happy but agreed that they should have got my ok before cutting the seat.i'm still waiting for them to try to somehow screw me but now i have their acknowledgement of a screw up in writing.i will post and advise as to my progress.thanks for everyones input
