I am not going to do this, But harley also in other ways wants these bike to appear maintence free like jap bikes. So I do think you need to use own judgement. A company also is going to split the time vs benefit of something,

Another way would be change it sooner, so you are diluting it more often. I am not going to do that either.

How much do you trust harley?

Yes, but just leave my catch tray in place for when removing the oil filter (goes under the filter), the oil catch pan under the tray to keep catching the oil from filter removal, fill the oil tank up with new oil, run the engine with no filter until the oil comes out clean from it, spin the filter one, run the motor for a few mins to fill the filter back up, shut the motor down, wait a few mins, then top the tank to the half between the add and full mark, with the bike back on the jiffy stand.

It takes about half a quart of oil until its running clean out the filter location ,but since I get oil in the 5qt jugs, and motor only takes about 4 quarts of oil, all good in the end.

If you want to go fancy with device, instead of just filter catch tray, then here,

Obviously you don't understand how it works.
But that's OK, you get most of what you say wrong.
As I change the oil every year or 5000 miles which ever comes first,
I purge it to get any debris out of the bottom of the sump.
The puck is to control where the waste oil goes.

On my 1989 EVO I used to do a 5 quart change when the oil filter was under the bike. The the oil went from the filter to the oil bag. I'd drain and refill the oil bag. Then, running an old oil filter, with a hole in the bottom of it, I'd watch for the new oil to come out, then shut off the engine. Install new filter and top off the oil bag.

I only got 160K miles before the crank case split and I sold the bike. I used Havoline 20w-50 oil from 1994-2005.

The same can be done on other bikes, but I never did it on my 2002 TC. And I will not do it on my 2019 FLHTP.

Total waste of time. But if it helps you sleep go for it.

That will work on an EVO but on a TC or M8, all you get is the oil passage from the tank to the feed pump to the filter. On a EVO the oil filter is on the scavenge side and you'll get what's in the sump. On a TC / M8 the sump pumps directly into the oil tank so that oil dumps on top of the fresh oil.

I do not. I just drain the oil, replace the oil filter and put in new oil.
