Default Electra Glides......??

The first bike I was ever on was in 1964 on a 1964 Electra Glide when I was 9 yrs old.
A highway patrol buddy of my dad came over and gave me a ride.
Ive always had a love for them.
Maybe just out of nostalgia, that first ride or that it was the first Harley I'd ever seen.
I currently own an 81 shovelhead and 2010 Road King.
Just toying with the idea of adding a EG to the mix.
Where do they stand in the Pantheon of current HDs?
Quality?
Ride?
Maybe take a test ride this wknd.
Your thoughts please.........tx

There is no `64 Electra Glide , that would be a Duo -Glide
The EG name came in `65 with the advent of electric start and 12v system
`65 is the last year Pan and enjoys a cult status
`66-70 are generator ( flatside) Shovels
`71 up are cone motor (alternator) shovels like your `81
I believe `72 is 1st year for front disc brake
`73 and up has disc f & R
In `80 the EG got rubber mounts , a 5 speed and reversed triple tree geometry
`84 they became Evo`s , `99 became Twin Cams
How old you want to go ?

Depending on the year you get, it's essentially the same bike as your RK with different/additional plastic and a radio.

That was the Tour Glide (it also had the enclosed chain)...

The Electra Glide still had the 4 speed transmission and 4 speed frame.

Electra Glides are great! I love how they look in stock form but I stripped off the bag guards, fender rails and spot lights to slim down the look. Super comfortable on the highway and they don't look like everyone else's Street Glide!

AS of OP asked,
what about EG's.

I personally love my two. The first one is a 2002 TC88. Came fully dressed. Rode it for 2 years. Got it in 2020 so it did have miles on it. Ran/Runs great. Have been on 5 day trips around AZ with 2 up.
In 2022 got my 2017 EGC Ultra. Had been sitting and only had 987 miles on it. Dealer refurbished everything. Fully loaded as well.
Over the years I have converted both bikes to a "EGC Special" . 4 others I ride with have SGS and side by side they look very similar.
EXCEPT, on a trip I can mount up the tour pack and with the couch back seat, arm rest, back speakerss AND passenger headset adapter... well, super comfy ride for me and Mrs...
Better to have and not need, then to need and NOT have it...

With

without

For me they set the bar. My Dad had 7 of them, he had been to 49 states on them. I love my two but wouldn't mind having a road glide too. I have enough parts to spruce up enother early twin cam.

Mine says "ElectraGlide" on the fender just like the old days. Love the look. I rode a '52 Pan for 8 years.
