I just saw this in the OWNER'S manual!
Guess its a liability issue.
Do not pull a trailer with a motorcycle. Pulling a trailer can cause tire overload, damage and failure, reduced braking performance, and adversely affect stability and handling, which could result in death or serious injury. (00018c)

Never said it was recommended, just said it’s done all the time.

Adjust your shocks for his extra weight and you’re fine. I’ve seen many bikes with a rider and passenger bigger than you two will be.

I get it.
Just thought you might be interested in what OM says.
I see people doing it all the time so I guess HD just wants to cover their *** incase some fool is towing a grand piano and gets jammed up.

I won't say this is a dumb question, cause I wonder if he is just scared. Never had anyone but his wife on.

Cause if you really believed a 180 passenger is an issue, you are _______.

Go stand on street corner and watch bikes go by.

My '13 King should be the same as yours. Below is from my owner's manual. The second line says what you can add to the bike with about 5.5 gal of fuel in the bike.

I’m on my 5th Harley. I tow a trailer behind my Trike and my previous one as well. It did it effortlessly with Mrs Notgrownup and I and a load… We're big people also to mention. I inspect my ride and trailer before thorougly and at just about every fuel stop. Not saying it can’t fail but I haven’t had any issues yet.

On a Key West ride several years ago we were really heavy. I weighted everything when we returned. This all started from being noticeably top heavy. To start with the bag on our tour pack weighed in at 38 pounds. Yeah only 28 lbs over the recommended limit.

Total for both of us, all our gear in the saddle bags, gear in the tour pack, dry bag and gear on the tour pack, helmets, gloves, phones and pistol we came in at a total of “Drum Roll Please”, 494 lbs.

The bike never complained. Pro-Action suspension front and rear which is awesome, gas mileage was not noticeably bad and we had plenty of power. I mainly only noticed it at low speeds and maneuvering in parking lots.
