Default FAIRING BRACKETS, LEAVE OFF????

Ithought I had them fixed but they are rattling like crazy again. I am going totake my fairing off first thing in the morning to verify. Instead of replacing or building new braces, what would happen if I just take them off? I am talking about the side supports that extend out to the speakers, not the main verticle brackets. Any takers on leaving them off????

I will not hold you responsible..... I promise [&:]

Are you sure it is the brackets? I had a rattle in my fairing and found the 3 metal set screws on the inner fairing was not tight. I fiddled with them for 2 days and finally supper gluded them in. My rattle was the wind shield and inner/outter fairing was not tight. I would consider taking a look at what might be lose. I am not a believer of removing anything that has a purpose.

Never mind the post. My original fix with the washers has held up great on the side supports. The culprit is the front left main verticle bracket. [:@][:@][:@] I will be there in the morning to let them know. I doubt they will have it in stock but they can get it on order. Can't leave this one off for sure.
Thanks,
Joe

I took a 3/4" L bracket from the hardware and cut it to the correct length. I put a couple 8-32 screws through the old bracket and then into the L and then a clearance hole to attach it to the fairing. This was a lot easier and cheaper than a new bracket and it's stronger.

Dropped the bike off @ 8am, they put on the new bracket and as you suggested, the shop had manufactured the same bracket that you are speaking of and added one to each side to re-enforce them. A lot of bashing goes on with the dealers but once again I must commend my local shop. Curleys in Winston Salem is my local dealer. Huge opperation and good people if you ever pass through.

Any possibiltty of seeing some pics of the job? I mean, if you happen to have some. I wouldn't expect anyone to remove their fairing to take some photos.

My brackets are fine, but WHEN they break I'd like do fix it myself and I'd like to see the fabricated brackets you guys have on yours.

If no one beats me to it I will when I change out my air temp gauge to an oil temp gauge.
