while everyone is looking for better sound one thing to keep in mind is that these are Motorcycles with no real acustics just open air if you want bass you need power and the Harley charging system dosent have it ,If you want it to sound as good as some of the car audio systems you would have to put a bubble around your bike multiple amplifiers, capacitors and larger speakers and Sub woofers and something to power it so start looking for a way to add a 100 amp alternator and extra batteries then if the exhaust note dosent cancel out the bass note you might have something
i dont have any issue at all (from the charging system, or from my bassani exhaust canceling out my music)... the sub actually sounds great and at highway speeds my system is awesome... still working on completing it and i am sure i will change it several times as something new comes out, but so far, it is amazing... can hear the sub at regular street speeds and on the highway, i turn the sub down, cause i dont need it anyway... my odyssey battery and the stock 08 charging system has been fine for me... i dont think they have an upgrade for the 08 yet, but if they come up with something, i will get that...

I am considering installing Memphis MClass speakers in the front fairing on my 03 road glide.
The Memphis speakers are 4 ohms. The 03 HD/Radio Sound head unit I believe is 8 ohms.
My question is...

I believe two resistances in series gives a combined resisitance that is their sum.
If I take the negative speaker lead and add a 4 ohm resistor in series will this give me the correct 8 ohms
I would like to use the Memphis speakers and not hurt the head unit?

Negative lead ---> 4ohm resistor ---> negative lead on speaker

Positive lead ---> Positive lead on speaker

If so, does anyone know the correct watts for the resistor?

Will I need a higher volume control setting for the same real volume?

Any advice is appreicated.
