Went from a RK to a SG. Don’t regret it for a second. With that being said, I’ve never rode a shark nose and mostly for the reason I just don’t care for the look of them. I also prefer being closer to the fairing and speakers on the SG. Some of my friends ride batwing and some the shark nose. Neither one wishes they had the other, or at least would admit it, Lol! I have no problem handling a batwing anywhere. Now… with the look of the 24’s of both models, I don’t care for the look of either. May just take some time getting used to seeing them around but I’m glad I bought my 21 SG when I did. Good luck!

I’ve rode frame mounted fairing bikes for some time now, before my HD days. There is a reason for it too.

My last new bike that wasn’t a Harley. I decided I needed to slow it down some.

Follow your heart. You won't be 100% happy unless you do. In your mind you will be comparing what you got against what you want. I once bought a new 2016 RG in a Blue. Wanted Black. A year later I traded for a Black 2017. I won't tell you what a Disaster my 17 was. Only if I would have followed my heart I would have saved myself $$ and frustration. Just bought a RG. wanted a certain paint. Hard to find. Stuck it out and "Wala". New RG in White/ Chrome.. And I AM Happy !!

Batwings have been most riders' choice until a few years ago. Shark nose Harley's are just the latest fad, IMHO. They've been around for a long time, yet haven't really sold that well until recently. Now everyone wants one. Kinda like Dynas with t bars and small fairings. I'll stick with a batwing. I don't want or need a coffee table strapped to the frame of my motorcycle. And that's what riding a Road Glide feels like to me.

zero problems with the batwing here. what annoys me a bit is the damn tourpack, but you get used to it as well.
if you dont stop you can cross a storm on the damn thing without getting wet. i doubt the shark is the same (but never tried crossing a storm on one so I may be talking out of my ****. YMMV)

This Whole thread is pointless if we are talking about the 24's. If we are talking about 23 or earlier then it holds water. The bottom line is a lot of people did not like the look of the early road glides. But as time goes by . The look of the road glide has gotten better . And I think The 24s are beautiful , But I always liked the look of a batwing and they have a home run with the 24 SG. So I bought a 24 SG .. And I dont know what they did but the SG and RG both feel very light, They come off the kick stand like a softail. And the only reason this tread has 6 pages is because the oil section is locked closed........swifty

The older road glides has good rain protection with the lowers, the newer ones I can’t comment on as of yet. My 24 is not the latest and greatest design, that is one reason I snatched up a police model. My thinking is it’s not going to be as good for rain protection just because the design.

I’m planning on a week in Maggie Valley soon and I’m sure to hit some rain then.

I do still appreciate my 09.

Which one has best weather protection? Which matters more or less, depending on location.
