The motivator gets up in the morning sometimes and says "I should be in Dallas today"... so he gets his things packed and heads out for Dallas..... 37 days later we see he's back in town and ask him where in hek has he been... it doesn't take that long to get to Dallas and back... he says " well after I got to Dallas I realized I haven't seen the Pacific Ocean in almost 3 years so I headed for San Diego and stopped in to see a friend for a few days".... we say it still doesn't take that long!! "Well after I got to San Diego I realized that I haven't seen my buddy in Seattle in awhile so off I went with my buddy from San Diego...... took the scenic route ... no super slab.... all the way to Puget Sound.. spent a few days there and then the wife called and asked me when I was coming home....... I said soon." How long did it take you to get home?? "Nine days" !!! The boy likes to ride .... doesn't he???
I have a buddy who rode wings for many years ... in '89 switched over to an UC and proceeded to put 417,889 miles on it .... when HD found out about it they took it from him and gave him a new one
I saw this bike at Tilley's in Salisbury, NC back in the spring when they had the open house for their new building. Awesome story.
Zapps, Welcome from North Jersey! I've never ridden a Wing so I can't comment on how they perform. But I've always wanted a Harley and never had any fantasies about GW's.I happen to love the shaking and machinery noises. It's like the machine is speaking to us or something. The Wing has the sophistication of a Bullet Train, butHarley has the soul of a Steam Locomotive. It's just a gut thing I guess.
Welcome! I have a friend who has more money than God (well, a lot more than me, anyhow) and he HAD a Wingding and said tha it was highly accomplished but bor-ring! He now has an Ultra (as well as an FJR1300 and an R1200RT) and loves it.
There's one more characteristic which you never wanna discount. Take the missus for a couple of hours on the back and she'll be raring to go. It might be the Harley's vibrations or something, but trust me, it works! Every one of my Harley riding friends agree...

Very true!! My wife won't even let me look at another Wing, she loves riding on the back of my Electra Glide.
My dad is 72 and still rides, he has a Goldwing with training wheels,( he calls them landing gear ) which are the outrigger wheels in the rear that automatically come down when you come to a stop. He is still sharp as a tack but sometimes gets tangled up in the wing trying to get his feet out, so with the landing gear this problem is solved. My Dad and 2 brothers and I along withabout 6 other guys are departing from Wisconsin illinois area and heading to the dragon on the 16th. I hear we are going to a wingding or whatever those guys call a rally. I'm going because I love riding with my dad and getting to hear all the stories from his many many years of riding. It seems that I will be the Only harley on this ride so I'm specialBut i have also been told I get to bring up the rear so they dont have to listen to the noise, even though my dad was a Harley man all his life till a few years ago, he wants to be close to me so he can share the pleasure of hearing my machine tell me how good it feels cruising the Highways.
So if you guys are out there and hear a buzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz on the highway followed by a thunderous roar, that will be us on our way. Ok thats enough, thanks for listening.
