Default For JMJOHN

I have the J&M headsets for myself and my wife. i sent them to Tucson for checkout and everything passed. It turned out that the problem is EMI emission from the connection of the upper and lower cord on my wife's headset. When i transmit on the 06 UC CB it has a lot of static and other bikes can't understand me. I can wrap the connection with a metal type shield to shield the EMI. what do you recommend. Whenever i move my headset closer to her's the noise in my headset increases. These are 174 units that i have had for yrs.i just purchased new lower cords for the headsets and kept my old upper cords and headsets. i used them on my 95 UC, my 97 GW and my 05 GW. The 06 UC is the only bike thati have a problem with the headsets.

Rollon ,,,,,,

please tell me the alpha designations on the little ID band around both the upper and lower section cords on both of your headsets ,,,,,,

sounds like we have a sheilding issue here ,,,,,

also ,,, let me know if you have ever checked the SWR tuning on your CB antenna ,,,,,

I have noticed that the intercom does not break in nearly as easy with the J&M's as with the stock headsets. Sound is much better but the passengers ability to just talk without pushing the ptt button is limited.

Yes, i have the same problem. My wife and i both are soft spoken and it takes more than our usual volume to turn the intercom on and keep it on. I usually turn the control to the max for the intercom and go down one notch.

Thats what I have done as well, but still have to talk very much above normal voice volume to be heard. Wears on your voice after a while.

as for the lower J&M mike signal, compared to the Harley headsets ,,,,,,,

J&M has just released a new higher-output boom mike (-HO) that is used on many of our headsets ,,,,,,

this allows these new J&M headsets to break the intercom vox level at about the same setting level as the Harley brand mike ,,,,,

these higher-output mikes are also available as separate components to upgrade older J&M headsets using the AeroMike III mini booom mike ,,,,

these new mikes and -HO headsets can be see on the replacement parts and headset pages on the J&M website ,,,,,

Which would I have on a set of 'Elites" I purchased 2 weeks ago (from a dealer)? How do I tell? Not overly happy about the prospect of spending another 160 to make these work.

I noticed the VOX problem a week ago after installing the J & M headsets off my BMW K1200LT. Sound is fantastic, but the Vox looks to be a problem. I only tested the system with one headset, just got the second lower cord in the other day and will hook it up tomorrow. I will test rider/passanger headsets together this weekend and report back. I too would hate to have to buy additional mics to get the system back up.
