Default CB chatter not working

I have a used `02 Ultra with an `03 Ultra radio. I don't have access to an owner's manual for either yet, but suspect the CB radio isn't operational. Can't get any chatter out of it. Does it need "set-up"? If so,can someone tell me what the set-up process is? I haven't purchased a mike or headsets yet, but I thought I should be able tolisten to the chatter. Thanks.

Check that the squelsh(sp) is not set to high or you will not be able to hear anything. Try finding someone that has a CB and park it close and see what you get then. That will also help in the setup of it....

Either your squelch is set too tight (advanced too far - back it off until you hear steady noise, then advance it until the noise just disappears to get maximum range) or your antenna is cut, disconnected, shorted, or the SWR is wayyy off.

Did you check the speaker switch on the dash? To hear cb out of the speakers it has to be pressed down towards rider.
