Default Heat Comparison

I have my 07 FLHX and My 08 FLHTCU.
I have installed a DTT/WEGO IID, RineHart Tru-Duals with an SE-A/C.
The bike is otherwise stock. The FLHTCU is bone stock.
Today I did a little temperature test with my RayTec Infrared temp gun.
Outside air temp was 68 degrees fahrenheit.
After a short freeway run, some red light idling of both bikes on the same course. Itested each biketo try and make it as accurate as possible...
Here are the results...[8D]
The 07 FLHX temp at the top of the rocker box, front and rear head matched at 110 degrees.
The exhaust temp was taken at the 02 sensors front and rear. They also matched at 250 degrees.

The same test locations on the 08 FLHTCU yielded a big difference.
The front rocker box was 140 degrees and the rear was 160 degrees.
The front exhaust at the 02 sensor was 360 degrees and the rear was 410 degrees.
That was just a short 6 mile run at a very comfortable outside air temp.
I think on the next hot day we get I will take the gun with me and do a real-world traffic test....[:'(]

I just picked up my new 08 Ultra Classic this afternoon. I must say that I was a bit surprised. I have never experienced on my 06 Sportster anything like the roasting my thighs took after only about 5 - 8 miles. Wow! This is way too mice a bike and there are far toom any of them out there for people to be suffering through this kind of cooking. If anyone has a voice of experience I would really welcome the help.

Heat shields? Dual exhaust pipes? 80 mph crosswinds? anything.

Thanks
Steve

I just bought an 05 ultra classic.....verrrry hot compared to my 2000 road king with seII upgrade....my thoughts for coolingfor starters are....remove lowers, oil cooler, stage one air kit and the heat shield that goes under the driver seat.I like the sound of the stock mufflers so for now I will leave them alone. If by next spring I'm not happy with the heat issue I will go with vance and hines manifold/headers and Rush 1.75 mufflers.

Good luck!
