I’m thinking an extra connection added for a passenger. Second set of heated gear. Second charging point for cell phone etc. or maybe it was added not knowing one already existed??
I picked up a 2011 Street glide and I noted the battery tender wire hanging down from the battery compartment. On another day I was looking around and discovered what looked like another battery tender connection tucked down lower, sort of behind the oil cap. But this one had what kind of looked just like an in line fuse box except it had a small red light on it that was flashing.
Has anyone ever seen anything like this?

Mine was flashing red, and my battery was low that day and I had to jump it with my Halo. I drained it too much messing with the radio and stuff I guess.
So this is for charging the battery via a Harley charger, not for gear?
In post #1, you mentioned it was "behind the oil cap". In the instructions for the kit I posted, it is recommended to locate the connector "just above the oil fill dipstick". Not really a convenient location for heated gear. I suppose you could use it for heated gear. Keep in mind the inline fuse is 7.5 amp.

And let's not forget the flashing light. None of the heated gear plugs that I have had has a light on it and is usually a 12v DC coaxial connector.

Could be an added pigtail for heated gear. The factory tender plug in isn't rated for heated gear as the fuse is rated to low.
The OP's bike is a 2011. The factory battery tender connector was first introduced on the 2014 models. The factory connector is protected by the 20A P&A fuse.
Below is the current draw for HD's heated gear.
If you and your passenger were to wear the above gear combined, it wouldn't exceed 20A.
I put a second one on mine to run a battery tender USB charger for my phone on my h/bars when I'm using maps. Possibility!
Maybe but why way back there? To lazy to run it to the bars?
With a used bike it could be a million things. Move on with your life. Doesn't matter what they did with it, only what you will. Myself, I would use the one closer to the outlet. Not to say curosity didn't kill the cat.
