I have Frogtoggs set of raingear. I keep them in my saddlebags. Have only had to use them once, have used my chaps and leather jacket more than once for the rain.
Dedicated rain jacket, to me, is taking up too much room on a two week trip, riding two up.
I also have relied on HD Rain Gear for over 30 years, probably on my third set. No matter what if you get stuck in all day rain, the neck leaks down the front. I have never been able to solve that issue. Putting the hood up under your helmet works great for any infiltration down your back. HD boot gators are mandatory, no one makes boots that are going to last 8 years in real rain. I also have waterproof gloves from HD, bought them in Indiana during some biblical rain heading to Sturgis.
This reminds me I was going to get new rain gear this year, lost some weight and the XL suit is a bit of a parachute on me. Best set I ever had was a HD one piece suit I bought in PA during a hurricane. Very rubbery and hard to get on, but you did NOT get wet at all. But God help you if the sun came back out, cooked immediately. Stopped using it because of those issues, but on an all day heavy rain day, I was dry.
I've had good luck with HD brand rain gear,I rode thru a torrential down pour for a couple hundred miles in Iowa enroute to Sturgis.
Stayed 98% dry,it's always been pretty good.
Packed them up tonight I hope I don’t have to take the damn things out. I done changed my itinerary twice and the damn rain keeps chasing us south. Started as a WV trip, then NC , now it’s GA a SC… maybe towards the coast but we’re leaving in the morning for 5 days with the rain suits.
