I'll have to agree with Glideman's recommendation of the JBL's. Don't have 'em in my bike (yet), but I used to build high end car audio systems in college and when anyone came in with the "unlimited wallet" disease, they always got a combination of Nakamichi head unit, Soundstream Reference amps, and either MB Quart or JBL speakers sets. The MB's were absolutely crystal clear, but the JBL's were more efficient. The 5 1/4"'s are like 91dB. That is amazing for that size of unit. If they were good enough for some of the rides I built, they are definitely good enough for the rides on HDF.
You can't go wrong with JBL, house or car.
Or bike.
A tip I forgot to share with everybody.
One of my very few good habits: EVERY time I pull a electrical connector apart, before I plug them back in I put a dab of DIE-ELECTRIC grease in the connector.
This habit pays of big time down the road, when you start to have electrical problems.
06 SG, Bought adapter rings to go with 6 1/2 speakers but they would not work with updated vertical brackets that caused my radio to **** the bed. Vibration, sent it out to Iron Cross to repair at a cost of $250 with a year warranty. So ended up buying Infinity Kappas 5.25 to replace the stock ones. there 2 Ohms just like the stock ones so I won't loose any volume or clarity when I crank them. Waiting on radio and speakers to install and I'll get back to you. BTW This wasn't a tough job to do and when you get the fairing off make sure you check out your four mounting brackets, two vertical(black) and two horizontal(silver). If your radio sound cuts in and out this is the problem and if the bike is out of warranty it's out of your pocket. A Harley design flaw!

I've been thinking of upgrading my speakers to some 6 1/2's. If your not using the rings do you want to sell them?
Ok here is a little known secret...If you go to the sound places that install these boom speakers in cars they will share that they also use something called "Dynomat" it is a very sticky 1/4 inch thick mat that deadens the viabration coming from cars and also sound proofs the cars. I bought the Hog Tune speakers and installed Dynomat to the inside of my Fairing. The Dynomat causes the sound to come out of the speaker holes rather than bounce around inside the fairing and vibrating loosing valuable sound and causing distortion. It takes about three sheets of Dynomat to cover the inside of the fairing. But it is WELL worth it. I got better quality and louder sound from my speakers. The fairing does not vibrate or "Buzz" when you turn it up...isn't that the idea...turning it up? Anyway, I got the Hogtunes with the lifetime warranty...then Dynomatted the fairing and BAM...there it is...great sound at any decibel. I recommend it!

Took 5 years for you to post in this thread, how long until you get back?
I replaced my hog tunes speakers because they were cracking with MB1 quarts (5.25 inch). Someone on here said any speakers would work. Everything was great till i pushed my cigarette lighter in this morning and the speakers stopped.... any sugestions?
